“O son of Adam — you are nothing but a collection of days. Every day that passes, a part of you passes with it. The intelligent person is the one who gives his days something worth carrying to Allah.”
Hasan al-Basri
Tabi'i scholar, student of the Companions
Hasan al-Basri lived through the generation after the Companions and was deeply shaped by the urgency they carried. He preached constantly on time, death, and the hereafter — not from pessimism, but from clarity. He had seen people who had walked with the Prophet ﷺ die. He knew the brevity was real. His words on time are some of the sharpest in Islamic literature.
What are your days currently carrying to Allah? If the angel recorded today specifically — what would the record show?
At the end of today, write one sentence — just one — that captures what today was worth. What did this day contribute to your akhirah?
“You are nothing but a collection of days. Every day that passes, part of you passes with it.”
