Al-Baqarah · 2:286
لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear.
This verse is one of the most comforting in the entire Quran. 'Wus'aha' means exactly what the soul can carry — not what it thinks it can carry, not what others think, but what Allah has already measured and confirmed. Every trial you have been given was measured before it arrived. This verse is not a motivational phrase — it is a divine guarantee. Whatever you are facing, Allah has already testified that you have the capacity to bear it.
This verse closes Surah Al-Baqarah — the longest surah in the Quran. It ends with one of the most beloved du'as: 'Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we forget or make errors... Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that You laid upon those before us... and pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.'
If Allah has already confirmed you can bear what you are carrying — what does that mean for how you are carrying it?
Complete the rest of Verse 2:286 as your morning du'a. Read it slowly, as a conversation with Allah.
“You have been given exactly what Allah already confirmed you can carry.”
