Ad-Duha · 93:1-4
By the morning brightness. And by the night when it is still. Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He detested you. And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].
This surah was revealed during a painful silence — a period when revelation had stopped and the Prophet ﷺ was in anguish, fearing he had been abandoned by Allah. His enemies mocked him. Then Allah swore by the morning light and the peaceful night: 'Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor does He hate you.' The word 'wadda'aka' means to abandon completely, to turn away in disgust. Allah denied it with an oath. This surah is for every person who has felt spiritually abandoned, spiritually empty, or unworthy of Allah's attention.
Aisha reported that after revelation paused, a woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'Your satan has abandoned you.' This surah was the response. Allah answered human mockery with a divine oath of companionship.
Have you ever felt that Allah had gone quiet — that you were no longer worthy of His attention? What do these verses say to that feeling?
Read Surah Ad-Duha in full today. Sit with it. It is a love letter from Allah during his hardest season.
“Your Lord has not forsaken you. He swore by the morning light.”
